In line with the relevant Policy, the Company’s charitable activities have three main areas: heath, education and culture, and social assistance.
NLMK’s corporate citizenship and philanthropy activities are pursued mainly in collaboration with the Company’s social partner,the Miloserdiye (Mercy) Charitable Fund for Social Assistance.
The fund is the largest charitable organisation in the Lipetsk Region.
It is listed on the Russian National Register of Socially Responsible Organisations and is member of the Donors Forum, a grant provider association.
The Miloserdiye Charitable Fund supports grassroots and children’s sport, healthcare institutions, contributes to the conservation of Russia’s cultural heritage, assists veterans, large families and other vulnerable social groups.
The Fund is a longstanding trusted partner of NLMK in the Lipetsk and Belgorod Regions and in the Altai Territory.
In 2022, it established branch offices in Stary Oskol and Zarinsk. Over 50,000 people benefit from the Miloserdiye Fund each year.
NLMK is committed to enhancing the tools it uses to collaborate and engage with communities and its employees for the development of a culture of everyday charity.
One such example is the Steel Tree, a grant competition.
Steel Tree grant competition
The Steel Tree is a grant competition that supports public social initiatives aimed at creating comfortable living spaces. The project is operated by the Miloserdiye Charitable Fund, NLMK's social partner.
The Steel Tree grant competition has been held since 2017. Every year the number of applications and awarded grants is rising.

Results in 2024
In 2024, grants were awarded to projects in the following categories: Ecology and Urban Improvements, Family Values, Science and Culture, Sports and Health, Supporting Young Adults, Mercy and Care, and Longevity.
A jury board was set up to select the best initiatives, with members to represent NLMK, the Miloserdiye Fund, regional and local authorities. The number of applications exceeded 423.
In 2024, 62 grants were awarded to projects from five regions in Russia, of which NLMK contributed RUB 23.5 million.
