NLMK Group leads Top 50 Green Energy Transition ranking
NLMK Group was ranked first among Russian steelmakers in the Top 50 Green Energy Transition rating. In the overall rating NLMK Group was ranked among TOP 5. The ranking was compiled by RAEX-Europe, an independent rating agency.
RAEX-Europe analysts evaluated the results of energy efficiency projects, the maturity of energy management, and reporting across such categories as Energy Use and Renewable Energy. The agency made a special mention of NLMK Group’s experience in renewable energy applications.
Approximately 80% of the electrical energy generated at the Lipetsk site and used for its production needs, and 100% of the electrical energy generated at Altai-Koks is produced using NLMK Group’s captive secondary energy resources (steelmaking gases).
NLMK Group continues to implement its energy efficiency projects. NLMK Lipetsk is building its Recovery Co-Generation Plant 2, a new power plant, unique for Russia, that is going to be fuelled by steelmaking off-gases. It will enable an additional reduction of CO2 emissions by 650,000 tonnes per year and increase the site’s energy self-sufficiency to 96%.
